Children are Sponges...

My children know their address, I taught them that. But, I hadn't taught them my phone number yet and realized the other day that I won't have to teach them this information...because they already know. They have overheard me telling other people my number countless times that they have taken it upon themselves to memorize it. Our children are sponges...they hear everything we say even more so when we are not speaking to them. You may have noticed that. When we are on the phone to others or are, what we think, having private conversations...they are listening. Be mindful of how you talk about people and the words you use. Our children soak it all up and it gets filed in their brain for later use. What kind of information do you want them filing away? Information on how to be kind and love others? Or how to talk bad about people and be judgmental? Ouch! I know, too rough? Well, just telling it like it is. Try talking to other people about your children giving them compliments and telling how they make good choices,etc. This will have very powerful side effects!
