"Children are great imitators. So give them something great to imitate." — Anonymous

Friends this is so true. Down to the littlest detail...I noticed one of my daughters always has a ponytail holder on her wrist wherever she goes whether she has a ponytail in her hair or not. I did not understand why until one morning I caught myself putting one on my wrist (as I always do after I get ready- just in case). I then started doing a search of my daily actions and mannerisms and immediately wanted to make drastic changes in fear they may pick them up! Every time I put lip gloss on I hear a voice in the back seat, "mommy can I have lipstick?" (This is not a bad thing), but whenever I am frustrated I let out a heavy, deep sigh and then wonder why one of my children is doing the same.

Then I began to look closer at some of the behaviors I did not like in my children and seeing if they were getting them from me. OUCH!!! I ask them to be selfless, but then go about the day doing all MY stuff not stopping often enough to do something they want to do. OUCH!! I ask them to listen while I am speaking, and then continue texting while they talk to me. OUCH!! I had to stop there...it became too depressing. Point is, they are watching our every move and learning them and putting them into practice. We have to make sure they are watching and learning the wonderful character traits we want them to have! BE the EXAMPLE!
